New Bio-Safe Gravity Bins Make Food Dispensing Even More Profitable

Chaska, Minnesota – March 1, 2001 – BestBins Corporation, developer of “Next Generation” gravity bulk bins, today introduced two specifically designed gravity bins, which according to company spokespersons, are the most up to date, enhanced food storage and dispense bins available.  BestBins designed the unique, environmentally friendly polycarbonate gravity bins specifically in answer to customers’ needs and concerns about operating costs, shelf space economy, sanitation and merchandising techniques.

Polycarbonate is an FDA-approved food safe durable plastic, a lightweight material with thirty-five times the impact strength of the heavier acrylic which has a tendency to crack.  Because of product purity, consistency and durability, polycarbonate gravity bins are virtually unbreakable and will not crack, chip, yellow or craze.  Other typical applications of polycarbonate are computer housing, airplane windows, compact discs (CD’s) and optical lenses.

BestBins’ distinctive, oversized circular spout system allows more types and sizes of foods to flow smoothly through these first-in/first-out rotation gravity bins, compared to the customary, smaller rectangular spouts.  Many new features make these bins better functioning, but no doubt the greatest benefit will be shelf space economy.  Next Generation gravity bins are marketed in four-gallon (15 liter) and eight-gallon (30 liter) versions with a width of 4.75 inches, allowing a chain of ten bins to fit on a four-foot retail store shelf section.

“Other companies are selling three- and five-gallon bins, with only eight or nine units fitting on a four-foot shelf,” said John Williams, Senior Vice President of BestBins Corporation.  “We offer gravity bins which were designed to efficiently utilize available shelf depth. Simple mathematics shows the retailers the ability to store and dispense anywhere from 48 to 100 percent more product per shelf with our bins compared to other gravity bins. And with that, the price per gallon of gravity bin will be 25 to 30 percent lower.”

Five marketing and sales professionals founded BestBins Corporation inspired by their firsthand experience in merchandising bulk food bins within the bulk food industry. Knowing the market’s need for an enhanced, high quality Next Generation gravity bin, this team put together a ‘wish list’ of design ideas.  Keeping the customer in mind first and foremost, the panel went in search of a highly regarded design firm to further enhance their wish list, recognizing the shortcomings of existing gravity bin designs.

“Our philosophy is to sell only the very best, stand behind our products, and deliver products on time.  Just as important, however, is our genuine belief in bio-safety and sanitary values.  Our products are designed to be highly tamper resistant with tighter fitting parts aimed at keeping freshness in and bugs out, which is why we do not market ‘open lid’ scoop bins,” said BestBins President Robert Groenevelt.

Next Generation gravity bins mount on almost any flat surface, eliminating the need for special or additional fixtures.  The bins can convert gondola and other shelving into cosmetically attractive bulk food displays. The staff at BestBins is knowledgeable in store fixture designs and solutions, and will assist customers at no extra cost.
